3 Ways to Align More with Who You Wish To Be and How You Wish to Live

Highlights of Your Day

Every evening, write out 3 highlights of your day. Do this for a week, then a month. At the end of the month, go back through your entries and highlight any repeating “highlights of the day”. Use this as your motivation to simply do that more. If you have the journal, it’s great to write these in the “what would make today great section”, or if it’s a habit, make it part of your habits/goals. Example: I was continuing to find “reading in the afternoon” as part of the highlights of the day so now I work really hard to carve out time to make reading part of my afternoons, by putting it as one of my goals, habits and writing it in the “what would make today great” section.

The Gift

Every day offers up learning opportunities so long as we’re willing to open our eyes enough to see and understand them. At the end of every day, write out one thing that felt like a “negative” that day. Now, figure out how to turn it into a gift (sometimes the gift is simply the lesson you learned), sometimes its a silver lining and sometimes the gift is the opportunity to strengthen your mind and practice the power of LET IT GO. Example using One Lesson From My Day in the journal: (in regards to kids and their really big emotions) Kids just want to be seen and heard, taking a moment to listen and understand was far more impactful that yelling at him to stop.

You Are What You Repeatedly Do

Take a second and imagine yourself one year from now. What do you want to be doing with your days? What are you working on? What have you accomplished? Whats most important? Now, take a second to understand that you become what you repeatedly do. When you think about yourself a year from now, take that and focus on 5 habits that will help get you there. This is precisely why Ive created multiple spaces in the journal for goal setting and habit formation. Don’t just write down the things you think you should be doing. Write down habits that will take you towards who you want to be and the life you want to live.

The Run My Life journal connects in ways you might not even realize when you first start using it. This is why I preach not to skip any sections of it. The all work in tandem to achieve the goal (the fun part is, it doesn’t matter what the goal is because this part you tailor to YOU). Everything is designed to flow, from your big vision all the way down to your daily living. All you have to do is commit to showing up to it DAILY.

Tess
